I know how you feel, as that was me not long ago…
When our kids grew up and started building lives of their own, I was proud of them—but I wasn’t quite sure who I was without the familiar role of “Mom.”
I found myself asking questions I’d never had time to ask before:
- What do I enjoy?
- What do I want to do next?
That led me to embracing the opportunities that come with an Empty Nest, and now I’m here to encourage and support other Moms to do the same.
My Backstory
After college, I landed my first 9-5 in the big city, and coming from a small town, that was a pretty big deal! An even bigger deal was when I married my High School Sweetheart!
After several years of commuting and working a stressful job, I quit my job to become a stay-at-home Mom to our three children.
Best Job Ever!
As every Mom knows, those years fly by way too fast.
What’s My Next?
When the kids moved out of the nest, I was left holding a bag of mixed emotions, and as a stay-at-home Mom, I was suddenly unemployed.
After acknowledging and working through my feelings, I realized it was time for me to find my next thing for work.
But, there I was, unemployed from the corporate world for 18+ years, lacking the skills to just jump back into it.
I knew that I could update my skills, but I didn’t want to go back to another stressful job, trading big time for small money.
Instead, I chose Entrepreneurship to be my next for work.
I created this website, naming it When Birdies Fly as it depicted the new chapter of life that I was suddenly in, and the crossroads I was at.
