I know how you feel as that was me not long ago, and I’m here to help you move beyond the Empty Nest!

My Backstory

After college, I landed my first 9-5 in the big city, and coming from a small town, that was a pretty big deal!

An even bigger deal, though, was when I married my High School Sweetheart!

For several years after we got married, we both worked really hard at our jobs, played harder after work, and then finally settled down to start a family.

By the time our third child came along, I’d had enough of my crazy, long commute to The 9-5, working a stressful job, and trying to juggle it all.

So, I quit my job and became a stay-at-home Mom.

Fast forward…now we’re Empty Nesters!

What’s My Next?

As all moms can relate, our kids grew up way too fast!

When the kids moved out of the nest, I was left holding a bag of mixed emotions, and as a stay-at-home Mom, I was suddenly unemployed!

After acknowledging and working through my feelings, I realized it was time for me to find my next thing for work.

But, there I was, unemployed from the corporate world for 18+ years, lacking the skills to just jump back into it.

I was confident that I could update the skills I once had, but I didn’t want to do that type of work again.

I also didn’t want to trade big time for small money again, having someone telling me what to do, when, and how to do it.

I didn’t want to go back to The 9-5; however, I knew that I needed to do something, I just didn’t know what.

Sound familiar?

After a lot of thought and research, I chose Entrepreneurship to be my next for work.

I created this website, naming it When Birdies Fly as it depicted the new chapter of life that I was suddenly in, and the crossroads I was at.

My Mission

While on my quest for what’s next, I came to realize that I couldn’t possibly be alone…there must be many other Empty Nester Moms struggling with the same big question:
